President's Message, August 2011
Well everyone, our “Summer Break” is coming to a close, and it’s time to
get back in the swing of things for ASCE.
This year, in an effort to further emphasize ASCE as a Service
Organization to our Community, the Officers and I have come up with a
plan:
Beginning with our August Meeting, we will begin taking donations for
Charitable Organizations around the Central Kentucky area. Each month,
we will select a Charity, and, based on their needs, will collect monetary
and/or gift donations, which will be delivered by the Officers after the
meeting is complete. The Charity and a list of requested donation items
will be sent out in the pre-meeting announcement for registration.
Here’s how it will work:
We will begin in August by charging $15.00 per meeting to attendees for
the box lunches, if a donated item is not provided. If you do bring an item
or items to donate, the charge for the lunch will be $10.00, as before. The
additional $5.00 (should you choose not to donate an item) will be given to
the selected charity as a monetary donation. ASCE Bluegrass will be
pleased to provide you a receipt for tax purposes, if you request one.
While we have put together a preliminary list of potential Charitable
Organizations, the Officers are open to suggestion, if there is a Charity
that you hold near and dear that you would like considered. If you have a
suggestion, please email me at wyoung@smeinc.com.
Additionally, I welcome anyone with suggestions for future meetings, how
we can do things better, etc. to please let me or one of the other Officers
know. We value the input of our Membership.
